Sustainability at The Academy Awards 2022

This year marked an exciting year for the academy awards, while tarnished with violence we were also very happy to see progress towards inclusion and bridging the gap of diversity. Another inspiring and promising note was the positive change in awareness towards sustainability and the gorgeous choices made to showcase sustainable options at Hollywoods most glamorous event. 

This initiative was led beautifully by the ambitious and committed efforts of RCGD.  

Who is RCDG??

According to their website Red Carpet Green Dress is a "women-led global change-making organization bringing environmental and social sustainability to the forefront of conversation and action within the global apparel and design industry”.

Their initiative in partnership with the Annual Academy Awards collaborates with global and small independent brands, and partnerships delivering sustainable design solutions. They aim to challenge the current linear business model by placing a focus on people-centric values and intelligent design systems. They are focused on educational work with youth and emerging design community, workshops, internships and work experience, and design contest initiatives.

RCGD Global was conceived by Suzy Amis Cameron during the press tour for her husband, James Cameron’s film ‘Avatar’. "Our goal is to draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in the apparel and design world, and be part of bringing those solutions to the global market.”
